About Nico Lenox
I began my journey in music with one goal; to create compositions that give artists the platform to express themselves and tell stories, while also inspiring, and entertaining audiences. Born in Atlanta and raised in metro Atlanta, I have been immersed in music, since I was eleven years old, when I received my first guitar as a Christmas present. I went on to win a Congressional Black Caucus performing arts scholarship for my performance on the classical guitar and I also studied classical guitar at Northwestern University, eventually earning a Bachelor of Music in 2016.
I started to take up hip hop production in my late teens as a student at Northwestern University, where I studied Classical Guitar, German, and Music Technology. Despite my relatively short time with the art of hip hop production, I take my craft seriously and have particpated in beat showcases and feedback forums for the purpose of improving my skills.
Most recently I participated in the NYC Saturday Sample Flip in November 2019, in which I won 2nd place. As the prize for this accomplishment, I received 10 credits for the purpose of obtaining songs to sample on Tracklib.com and I received several sample packs.
In addition to my undergraduate education at Northwestern University, I have also earned a Master of Music in Music Technology at New York University (NYU). During my graduate study I was introduced to digital signal processing in the MATLAB and Max/MSP programming languages, and sound design. My study also provided me the opportunity to hone my skills in audio engineering and music production, while I studied at NYU.

A Unique and High Quality Sound
My background in various styles of music and my classical training on the guitar bring me uncommon skills in the realm of production as I am able to analyze and recreate music as a way to study great works and I am able to utilize disparate influences to guide myself in music composition.

Progression and licks
As a producer, you are expected to create and shape the sound of a track and even the sound of an artist. My education in Classical Guitar from Northwestern University provides me with the skills to add both electric guitar and nylon string guitar parts to musical arrangements when the addition of these instruments creates compelling and impressive musical textures and harmonies.

As a musician, I understand the impact that a picture can have on a story being told therefore I like to create visual representations , or beat visualizers, of the beats and compositions that I make. I also often record myself playing guitar as a way to provide more art to listeners and viewers and to showcase my skills.
